Diversity isn't just about having more people from different backgrounds; it’s about unlocking a wealth of perspectives that drive innovation. In business, these perspectives translate into real numbers: according to Harvard Business Review (2020), culturally diverse teams generate 19% more revenue from innovation compared to their homogeneous counterparts. This shows that teams with varied cultural backgrounds not only accelerate innovation cycles but also create products that resonate with users and develop adaptable solutions —essential elements for thriving in agile environments.

Language as a Bridge: The power of communication over perfection

Piotr, you speak seven languages. How did you do it? I usually say "hold my beer" and then I tell a long story :) The story is indeed a long one and it began nearly 25 years ago. At that time, I failed one of the two university entrance exams. In order to retake it, I decided to study German philology, just for a year, to improve my German, which by the way, I had already been studying for nearly a decade. A year later, I passed the exam, but unfortunately, I did not succeed in the second one. As a result, I remained in the German philology program with the intention of leveraging later my German language skills in my career. This path eventually led me to my first role in the industry. In my second company I was quickly promoted (at just 27 years old) and became Sales Director for Central and Eastern Europe. My responsibilities included building the company’s operations from scratch in over 20 countries, participating in international trade fairs and negotiating contracts. Soon I realized that in addition to improve my English, which was at the time truly indispensable at the time, I also need to learn Russian as quickly as possible. This was the last language I studied with a teacher and even though the process took less than two years. Learning subsequent languages became significantly faster, I could reach a level of comfortable in just a few weeks for each of one. What truly accelerated my progress were the frequent opportunities to apply my skills and the conclusion that foreign languages are, in essence, tools for building relationships. The stronger the relationships I wanted to cultivate, the faster I needed to master a particular language. I fully immersed myself in each language and sought ways to enhance my productivity, tailoring the learning process to fit my daily routine and lifestyle. This approach proved to be a real game changer.

Will Someone Manage My Project Instead of Me?!

The dynamics of global business are changing, growing and transforming very fast, and outsourcing is no different. Today there is no doubt that outsourcing is a highly popular and fast-evolving trend. Many companies are looking for ways to bring more effectiveness to their business via outsourcing, not only in the IT area, but in all major business domains such as finance, manufacturing, and human resources. The projects, thus, are greatly varied and complex – technically, as well as organizationally. As a response to those changes, we experience significant shift in outsourcing business models from pure staff augmentation to the result oriented and outcome based models. In such models project management becomes more complex and more important.

Can ITSM, Waterfall and Agile practices coexist in the same organization?

For decades, many (IT) organizations have invested heavily in implementing ITIL/ITSM (IT Service Management) processes and find it difficult (if not impossible) to adapt to Agile practices. The same may be said when you introduce Project Management / PRINCE2. Considered by some as exclusive of each other, here is our example of peaceful coexistence between these different practices.

Agile or not – it is still a project! – interview with Darryl Booker

What is the difference in project vs. product thinking? It all depends on the perspective. Product thinking mindset focuses on “WHAT” needs to be developed; project thinking mindset considers “HOW” to deliver the product. Project thinking encourages innovative solution to be done on time according to Clients requirements, in ideal world beyond Clients expectations. Product thinking mostly should focus on product functionality for the end user, UX cases and optimized business benefits both for Client and Company.

Identify Benefits to Drive Business Results – interview with Beth Partleton

The Pulse report subtitle is The Strategic Impact of Projects: Identify Benefits to Drive Business Results. We see fewer projects meeting original goals and business intent or being completed within budget. More projects are failing and creating substantial monetary loss for their organizations. Further discussion is needed to understand why organizations do not fully appreciate that strategic initiatives are projects and programs. We suspect this disconnect may result because so few organizations monitor and measure the benefits that projects and programs deliver across a business.
